BENNETT CERF Random House co-founder and frequent What's My Line? Panelist Bennett Cerf wrote a short note in red ink on this 1967 letter, sent to him by a Los Angeles autograph hunter. Autograph note signed "Here you are -/Good Luck/Bennett Cerf" in red ink. 1 page, 8½x10¾, with three binder holes along right edge. Cerf wrote this note in response to a typed letter by Barbara Stephens of Los Angeles, California, dated Feb.9, 1967, in full: Dear Mr. Cerf, As a Polio Patient (of ten years) I enjoy collecting autographs of amous people for a hobby. I would be very honored to have your autograph among my collection. Cerf added an autograph postscript in blue ink: P. Have watched you on'Whats [sic] My Line' for years. I even like your jokes??? I love to read & want to read your latest book.
Best Wishes to you & your family! " Cerf replied to this postscript with an autograph "Thank you! With Donald Knopfler in 1925, when they bought the Modern Library of Cerf's former employer, Boni & Liveright. Most people probably know his face from his frequent appearances on What's My Line?
